Off The Mains is an independent UK guide to off-grid and portable power: power stations, solar panels and battery kits for the places the mains doesn’t reach.
I spent more than ten years running an agricultural machinery and parts business in Cheshire. That taught me to look past the brochure: what a machine is really rated for, what it costs to run, and who it actually suits. I bring the same approach here.

Unless a review says we’ve used a product ourselves, our comparisons are based on manufacturer specifications, published test data and owner feedback. We’ll always tell you which is which.
